The Congo River. My favorite African Aquarium!

This is my choice for a 360 liters or 100 gallons Congo River communal aquarium:

Hatchetfish: Orange Bushfish, Microctenopoma ansorgii, is also known as the “Ornate Ctenopoma” and is a small related of the more common gouramis. From the Congo river. Grows to 7 cm or 2,4 inches. A very Gorgeous and Rare fish in the hobby.

Tetra: Alestopetersius brichardi 7,5-8 cm or 2,7 inches. From the middle of Congo river. One of my favorites!

Tetra: Alestopetersius smykalai 5-6 cm or 2-2,4 inches. From Congo river system and Niger river.

Tetra: Bathyaethiops breuseghemi known as “Rectangle Spot Moon Tetra” and grows to 7 cm or 2,7 inches. From the Congo river.

Tetra: Phenacogrammus aurantiacus from Congo and grows to 10 cm or 4 inches.

Tetra: Phenacogrammus hilgendorfi grows to 5-6 cm or 2-2,4 inches. Congo Tetra.

Tetra: The commonly known as the Congo Tetra, Phenacogrammus interruptus, grows to 6-8 cm or 2,4-3,3 inches.

Cichlid: Pseudocrenilabrus philiander dispersus grows up to 7,5-13 cm or 3-5,2 inches. Originates from Republic of Congo, but also found in Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Angola, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania, Botswana, Mozambique, and Swaziland.

Cichlid: Pelvicachromis subocellatus known as Ocellated Kribensis. Grow to 8 cm or 3,3 inches. Very Beautiful and Rare fish in the hobby.

Mating season colours.

Cichlid: The not so common Red Gaboon or Red Jewel Cichlid, Hemichromis stellifer is a very colorful species with fascinating behaviour that belongs to the more peaceful members of the Hemichromis family. The sexual dimorphism is limited so the females can be as bright as the males, though male jewel cichlids might have more pointed anal, ventral and dorsal fins. If conditioned correctly, their colors become even more intense during the breeding. It grows to 10 cm or 4 inches. It lives in the Congo river. This is a great choice for the Congo River communal aquarium.

Cichlid. Blood red jewel cichlid or Hemichromis lifalili grow to 11 cm or 4,2 inches. Exclusively from Congo and my choice. Striking red colours!

I hope you enjoyed this aquarium setup as much as I did! Happy fishing!

Cheers!
